The Big 14!

This past week (May 20th) Mike and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. That day wasn't much of a celebration since it was a Tuesday and we had to play responsible parents and work and get the kids to school and swim lessons. Mike did get me some beautiful flowers and a hilarious card. So in return, I got a speeding ticket on the way home, just for him. Thoughtful, right?

It was really a laid back evening overall since we both decided we couldn't cook on our anniversary. We ended up going out to eat dinner at 5 Guys on the way to swim lessons and that suited me just fine for I knew we had big plans for the weekend coming up.
Once the weekend finally arrived (after what seemed like forever), I met Papa and Grandma in Provo to give them the kids for a couple days. Then met up with Mike for some dinner at Texas Roadhouse.
Since it was just the 2 of us, we snapped a lot of selfies (bear with us).
After much debate on how to end the night, we ended up settling on seeing X-men Days of Future Past. It was really good. Then it was home for a quiet night and packing up for the weekend's adventures.
Saturday morning we had tickets to hit up Lagoon, but we woke up to pouring rain. We went to breakfast at Black Bear Diner and tried to wait it out a bit. But after several hours, it looked like it wasn't going to clear up in time for us to really enjoy and get what we felt like would be our monies worth from the tickets so we had to come up with a plan B.
Plan B consisted of doing some walking and shopping at the outlets in Park City. We had a good time and scored some mega deals at a couple stores. Then we went into town a little ways and had a late lunch/early dinner at Squatters. Then it was time to check in to a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in Midway.
We stayed the night in the waterfall room at Johnson Mill.  We got there right at check in so it was a little chaotic but they showed us around and we walked around the grounds a bit taking in the sites. After getting our bags into the room, we took advantage of the pedal boat and went for a little stroll out on the lake with the swans. And then walking around a bit more.

Then we decided to venture into town and have some ice cream and the Fillerup Coffee shop and ice cream parlor. It was really good. When we were out on the lake we noticed a bunch of flags up on a hill, so since we were in town, we decided to go exploring and see what they were about. After a little climb up the hillside, we came about a nice little memorial for soldiers from Wasatch County that served in all of the wars. It was a peaceful place and we took a panoramic pic of the view. We couldn't get it all but it was a beautiful 360 degree view of the area where you could see all the mountain ranges. What an unexpected treat.

Then it was back to the B&B where we enjoyed some time sitting on our deck which was directly next to the waterfall, listening to the sounds and taking in the quiet of the mountain town. Then enjoyed a lot of time together. We enjoyed our time immensely and woke up to a beautiful sunny morning view and a hot breakfast of German pancakes, bacon and fruit. It was wonderful.

A special thanks to Mike for going along with my idea and for putting up with me all these years. Time to start planning next year's anniversary adventure.

And another special thanks to Grandma Judi and Papa Ringo for taking the kids and the dog so we could make it happen. We don't know what we would do without you guys.
