The Leprechaun Trap

Those 2nd graders of ours had a idea last night to set a leprechaun trap and try to trap one. So one empty box, some markers later, a stick and some chocolate gold coins later, we had built the perfect fool-proof trap to leave on the porch.

Sometime during the night, a pesky leprechaun did show up.  He left a rainbow trail of candies from the front door to the kitchen and then got in my pantry and turned all of our oreo's gold!  At least he left them for us to enjoy later with some other treats.

They were so excited that a real leprechaun came when they woke up this morning. They couldn't wait to check the trap. But Drats! The trap had been activated and the gold gone! No leprechaun just a note that read, "You missed me this time, thanks for the gold!"  They were a little bummed out showing me the note until I reminded them that the joke was really on that leprechaun because when he gets back to his house, he's going to open up his bag to find that we didn't leave him real gold, only the chocolate kind. Take that Mr. Leprechaun!.
