Big Sur and Carmel - Part 1 (Anniversary trip Day 4)

After one last breakfast in San Francisco, we were off for another road trip adventure to check out Big Sur.  Once we arrived, we started by stopping at several gates in Garrapata state park to check out the views.  Unfortunately, we had just missed the major wild flower blooming season which I had wanted to see, but there were still a few here and there to check out and look out over the cliffs at the ocean crashing onto the shore.

Every gate we went in would have a little trail out to look out points and every single one was filled with these little guys. Which wouldn't have been so bad, but they had a nasty habit of waiting until I was right near them them zipping right in front of me which would then startle me each and every time. I think they find it an amusing game to play with the tourists.
At one of the gates we spotted this beach and decided to go find the entrance as it looked like the perfect spot to stop for a bit and have our picnic lunch we had grabbed along the way.

This little poser landed right in front of the sand we'd pulled up and stood there for a while posing for pics.

Then we were off for the next stop on the map, Bixby Bridge, supposedly one of the most photographed bridges in America.

Then we were off to find McWay Falls. This is one of the only waterfalls the drains directly into the ocean and it was seriously beautiful to see.  I loved how green the water was.The beach is inaccessible from the trail,  so you can only see it from a distance but that was fine by us.

Then it was time to turn back and hit up one last location on our way back to where we would be spending our last night, in Carmel.
