San Francisco Part 3 (Anniversary trip Day 3)

We woke up to a rainy morning in San Francisco but again, we had too much to get in to let it get us down. So we made a quick pit-stop to a CVS on the corner and bought an umbrella and we were off. Up first was the ferry ride and tour of Alcatraz.  We walked around outside and watched an informative video to start off.

Then we made the trek up the hill to the prison itself and enjoyed the thorough audio tour while we walked around and really got a feel for the place.

Then there just happened to be an ex-convict that served time on Alcatraz there promoting his book.  Of course, I donated to the cause and bought a copy and took a pic. Meet William (Bill) Baker, #1295.

I've since read the book and enjoyed it. Fun little extra to our rainy morning.  The tour took a little longer than we expected and by the time we got back, it was already lunch time. After much discussion, we ended up going back to the Boudin bakery and scored a waterfront view table while we enjoyed tasting the sourdough with a sourdough pizza and a sourdough burger. Delicious!

After we grabbed the car, we headed out to check out the Palace of the Fine arts. It was seriously a beautiful place to walk around and take in.
