San Francisco- Part 2 (Anniversary trip Day 2)

All Aboard! We boarded the cruise ship and headed out into the bay.
First it made a wide swoop past the city and the Bay Bridge

Then it circled around Alcatraz Island and Angel Island

After the big Angel island circle we went over to the Golden Gate Bridge and under it. It was pretty remarkable seeing it that up close.

It was still cold and foggy for the majority of the cruise and the bridge had been hard to see until we were almost right upon it. Mike was certain there would be no sunset to see, and although the rest of the cruise was  still fun, the sunset was kinda the point so he was feeling a bit negative. I kept joking with him that if he would embrace the power of positive thinking, maybe we would catch a glimpse of it at least. I have to admit by the time we had gone under the bridge twice and were turning to head back to shore, I was beginning to think he was right. Then all of the sudden the fog parted, almost as if on cue and off the back of the boat, this happened!  There are no other words to describe it other than stunning!

We watched it continue to set and then the lights started flipping on in the city and we were able to get shots like these on our way back to the pier.

What a late stroke of luck! I couldn't have asked for a more prefect ended to our first night in San Francisco than that.
