Yellowstone Trip- Day 1 (The long Drive)

It was finally time for the big summer road trip. Time to head to Yellowstone for a week with Mike's family. My niece DaNell joined us for the ride and we put her in charge of keeping the peace in the back seats with foam noodles to bonk the kids with when they got too rowdy or were fighting. It made them laugh and was surprisingly effective.

We stopped at the Utah/Idaho border for a couple pics.
We stopped in Pocatello for some lunch and a break at my dear friends, The Green's, house. They BBQ'd us some burgers and dogs and we let the kids run around in the back yard for a while.
Then we hit the road again and this is what happened.
We had to drive through a section of the park to get to the town we were staying in. Right after entering, we saw the first of many, many elk on the side of the road.
And since it was on the way, we stopped at Gibbon Falls and took some pics to stretch our legs a bit.

We made it to the rental house and unloaded the car. And spent the rest of the evening eating pizza, waiting for the others to arrive and watching this view from the back deck.

Not to shabby of a start.
